Trails Update 3/8/2021- The groomers were out last night and will be out again tonight. Get some riding in now before it’s all gone!
Yesterday we had a huge morning on the mountain! Our club took part in a joint rescue drill between Edinburgh, Northville, Corinth Fire departments and a Life Net rescue helicopter. There was a “staged” head on snowmobile accident between two riders. Thank you Brian and Connor for being our victims! After the father of Connor “witnessed the accident” he rode his machine down the trail to notify fire and EMS of the accident. The teams responded and went right to work transporting the “patients” off the mountain. Connor went to a waiting ambulance and Brian was brought to the landing zone to a waiting helicopter. They loaded him in the helicopter and simulated what would happen next. The drill was a huge success for all involved and we all learned a great deal.
The Saratoga Snowmobile Association will be acquiring GPS coordinates for all our potential landing zones on the mountain and we plan to share them with local fire departments and Life Net of New York. In the event we need to use their services, this will help the rescue crews extricate a critically injured snowmobiler quickly and efficiently.
This is a good reminder to Ride Right, Ride Safe, and Ride Sober. It’s not a joke or a funny phrase, take it seriously folks. Bad things can happen quick.
